Student Regulations
My students! I, Instructor Guilus, was instructed to provide you all with the expectations of our current school year's student body as found in the Student Handbook.
Let us begin with our students' ancestry:
DISALLOWED RACES, with provided reasons:
- Aasimar. Aasimars are part of the current student body; however, it is incredibly difficult to balance Aasimars and have them fit as player characters as they often take the spotlight simply by existing.
- All RtHW (Ravenloft: The Horrors Within) and VRGtR (Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft) Races, with the sole exception of Dhampirs. These races typically either do not care about learning or are not safe on campus grounds, it is possible that they may be hunted or hunt other students for sport.
- Warforged. Most are either too young or have no interest in learning magic; those interested do not possess a great enough mastery of the Weave to have passed the entrance exam.
- Autognomes. Same reason as Warforged.
The unmentioned will be allowed in the campaign!
BACKGROUNDS
Please do not use the Strixhaven backgrounds, they genuinely make no sense. The book requires you to SELECT a College during your second year; however, they require to select a background for your character based on the book's provided backgrounds BASED on the colleges. Please select ANY background that isn't the Settings's backgrounds. Additionally, these backgrounds are incredibly overtuned and make a strong class like Sorceror, Warlock, and Bard even stronger.
TL;DR: Most backgrounds will be allowed, please let me know beforehand. But the Strixhaven backgrounds are NOT allowed.
FEATS
On Level 4, you will be given the ability to select a Feat or an ability score improvement. If you opt for a Feat, then do not select the 'Strixhaven Initiate' Feat. This will be given to you for free at the start of 2nd-year.
CLASSES
All PHB classes and Artificers, except Monk and Bloodhunter are allowed.
Monks would not go to Magic schools, they would go to monasteries, and Bloodhunters involve using the Weave in a way not aligned with the beliefs of the Strixhaven Institution.
While Strixhaven accepts all, it is expected that you are at least capable of using the Weave. If you are to play Martial classes (i.e., Barbarian, Fighter, Rogues, etc.)
LEVELS AND ASI
You begin at Level 2.
The ability scores will be as follows: 16, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8
MAKING A BACKSTORY
The Letter For Admission is considered your backstory, it's best that you refer to yourself in the first person.
